File Folder System
File Folder System and Model/Document Naming (CDE, PAS 1192, ISO 19650)
Until recent years, many companies used their own standards for filing and naming data sources. These codes sometimes caused confusion or difficulties when searching archives years later. However, in recent years, with the emergence of a common sharing language in project and construction production processes and the introduction of BIM processes, new concepts have emerged.
CDE (Common Data Environment) is a digital network-based data environment where all project-related data, information, files, and documents are stored and shared. This is typically a server or cloud-based data storage and sharing system created on-site or in the office.
The common language used within the folder system in this environment is one of the most important factors for ensuring that the project runs quickly, reliably, and without errors. This language is described and used in the ISO 19650 (PAS 1192:2007+A2:2016) standard.
